Experience BOC

At Brethren of Christ (BOC), we believe church is more than a place you attend-it's a family where you belong.  BOC is a Christ-centered community committed to building people, equipping believers, and empowering families to grow in faith and live out the Word of God.  Whether you've been walking with Christ for years, are just beginning your journey, or simply looking for a place to call home, there is room for you here.

At BOC, we worship together, grow together, serve together, and do life together.  Not just church.  FAMILY.

Meet Pastor Gabriel Kelly

For two decades, Pastor Gabriel Kelly has faithfully served as a shepherd, teacher, and leader, answering the call to build, equip, and empower the Body of Christ. His 20 years of pastoral leadership reflect a ministry rooted in service, strengthened by faith, and committed to developing people for the work and purpose of God.

A third-generation member of the Church of God in Christ, Pastor Kelly is the son of Bishop George Kelly and Assistant Supervisor Barbara Fields. A native of Dallas, Texas, he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1986 and later attended Texas Southern University.

Long before assuming the role of pastor, Pastor Kelly learned the value of faithful service. His spiritual foundation was established at Baldwin Chapel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent J. B. Baldwin. There, he served the ministry in numerous capacities, including drummer, deacon, choir director, musician, and armor bearer.

Meet Lady Tevra Kelly

First Lady Tevra Kelly is a native of Dallas, Texas, a devoted woman of God, and the wife and ministry partner of Pastor Gabriel Kelly, Senior Pastor of Brethren of Christ Agape Family Church. For more than 25 years, they have shared the sacred covenant of marriage, walking together in faith, family, and ministry with a commitment to serving God and His people.

First Lady Kelly’s connection to Brethren of Christ is deeply rooted in both faith and legacy. She is the daughter of the church’s founder, Reverend Theedric Dabney, whose vision and obedience established the ministry she continues to faithfully serve today. From the foundation established by her father to the pastoral leadership of her husband, First Lady Kelly represents a continuing thread of service, faithfulness, and commitment to the ministry across generations.

Her favorite scripture, Lamentations 3:22–23, reflects the foundation of her life and ministry:

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

The Vision - Building a Better BOC

Pastor & Lady Kelly carry a strong faith vision for the future of  the Brethren of Christ Agape Family Church—a vision that extends beyond a place to worship to a sanctuary that serves the whole person and the surrounding community. At the heart of that vision is the rebuilding of the ministry at 3911 Biglow Drive, bringing the journey full-circle while preparing Brethren of Christ for the next generation of ministry.

The vision includes a 500–700 seat worship center complemented by spaces designed to serve every stage of life, including a multipurpose center, childcare center, senior day program, and health and wellness facilities.

Beyond its physical spaces, we envision BOC as a community resource—providing adult education and GED preparation, basic computer training, youth after-school programs, educational opportunities for children, and other practical services that strengthen individuals and families.

Ultimately, the vision is not simply to build a larger church, but to build a stronger community—creating a place where people can worship, learn, grow, connect, and be equipped for a better future.

Church History: Our Story - A Legacy of Faith, Perseverance

1979–1990 | A Foundation of Faith

The story of Brethren of Christ Agape Family Church began in 1979 when the Lord called Reverend Theedric Dabney to the work of pastoral ministry. With eight charter members and a heart determined to follow God's direction, Reverend Dabney organized Brethren of Christ Baptist Church at 1415 Adelaide Street in Dallas, Texas. The early years of the ministry were marked by faith, sacrifice, and perseverance. As the congregation established itself, it worshipped in several locations throughout Dallas, including church facilities, storefronts, and community recreation centers. For a brief season, the congregation worshipped with the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jesse White.

1990 | A Place to Call Home

After more than a decade of perseverance, a significant chapter began in 1990 when Reverend Dabney secured the church property at 3911 Biglow Drive. Biglow represented more than just another place to worship. After years of transition, it became an established home for the ministry—a place where the congregation could continue growing, serving, worshiping, and building upon the foundation that had been laid. As the ministry continued to develop, its identity evolved as well. In 2004, the church's name was changed from Brethren of Christ Baptist Church to Brethren of Christ Agape Family Church, reflecting an expanding vision of ministry centered on faith, fellowship, and family.

2006 | A Legacy Continued

Reverend Dabney faithfully served the congregation he founded until his health began to decline. Before his passing in October 2006, he prepared for the future of the ministry by naming Pastor Gabriel Kelly, his son-in-law, as his successor, entrusting him with the responsibility of carrying the work onward. In November 2006, Pastor Kelly assumed leadership of Brethren of Christ Agape Family Church, beginning a new chapter while honoring the foundation upon which the ministry had been built. Under Pastor Kelly's leadership, the church was blessed to pay its outstanding debts and receive clear title to the property at 3911 Biglow Drive—a significant milestone in the life of the ministry.

2011–Present | Growing Through Every Season

As the needs of the ministry evolved, Brethren of Christ entered another season of transition. In 2011, the congregation moved from Biglow to 1916 Prairie View Drive in Dallas, where God continued to bless the ministry and provide opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service. In August 2024, the congregation transitioned once again to its present worship location at 3915 N. Westmoreland Road in Dallas, Texas. Through each season and every location, one thing has remained constant: Brethren of Christ has never been defined by a building. The ministry has continued to worship, serve, develop disciples, strengthen families, and move forward in faith. Full Circle | Honoring the Foundation. Building the Future. Today, the story of Brethren of Christ continues. After decades of ministry, growth, transition, and perseverance, the church now looks toward a full-circle return to 3911 Biglow Drive—the property that became home after
